Pre-register to vote

If you are 16- or 17-years-old, you can pre-register to vote!

You can register online, by mail, or in person and you will automatically receive a ballot when you're eligible to vote. Learn more here.

17-year-olds can vote in the August Primary if they turn 18 by the General election. 

Pre-registered 17-year-olds whose birthday falls before Election Day for the November General election will automatically receive a ballot for the Primary election. 

Your ballot will only feature races that you are eligible to vote on, so may look a bit different than voters over the age of 18 in the same household. 17-year-old voters are not eligible to participate on ballot measures or in races where the position is elected in the Primary, such as Precinct Committee Officers.

This change in law gives 17-year-olds the opportunity to help narrow the field of candidates from many down to two, and help shape who makes it to the General election ballot.
